TLIP announce new staff and a relocated Leeds Office

Dr Lisa Brown (Lady Lisa Markham) is a European Patent Attorney and a UK Chartered Patent Attorney, who joined TLIP Ltd in February 2018 as a Consultant.  Popular with clients, Lisa is known for her work with start-ups and her ability to build commercial portfolios fit for the purposes of sale, revenue raising, licensing or enforcement.  A joy to work with, Lisa regularly tutors junior attorneys and provides insightful legal analysis on case law and practice points crossing the desk of our qualified attorneys.    Lisa has over 20 years of experience in the patent profession, whilst specialising in the drafting and prosecuting of patent applications relating to wound healing, mammalian diagnostics, biomarkers, gene therapy, proteins, candidate therapeutic screening techniques and medical devices.

Director Paul Lynch commented, “We are very lucky to have someone with the calibre, reputation and experience that Lisa has joining TLIP.  With the boundaries between technologies almost vanishing, our attorneys in the software world will be working more and more with attorneys with a biotechnology background, and Lisa is one of the best.  One client’s recent patent case related to the modelling of toxins in the human body using N-body computer programs and our client benefited from such a joint approach”.

TLIP has also relocated to 14 King Street, a prime office central to Leeds city centre and a 2-minute walk to Leeds central train station.

TLIP moved from Leeds Innovation Centre on the campus of Leeds University to 14 King Street to accommodate our growing business which demanded new staff, more space and an upgraded office.

Our staff and clients contributed to the choice of location and we are confident that our new location maintains our close relationship with Leeds spin-outs, tech companies and service providers to the University of Leeds, whilst enabling TLIP to effectively network amongst the legal and business community of Leeds itself.

Managing Director, Alex Turnbull commented, “To date, much of our growth has come from Cambridge and it is now exciting to see Leeds develop in a similar vein.  From our base in King Street we look forward to meeting the business community of Leeds as well as expanding our reach to the neighbouring Northern cities”.
